No I'd say the majority of adult games are grinder types, where you're required to grind for money, items, points or whatever by doing constant repetitive actions to advance a scene or person. Yes they have a visual element but that doesn't make them novels by any means. Erotic novels are more akin to erotic fiction where the most important element is the build-up or anticipation; the slow burn as some would call it. Also it establishes a connection of the characters with the reader. As the story progresses you start to care and look forward to what happens to them. Porn is the exact opposite of all of that. There is no character development, no connection with the viewer and every time the "story" can often can be summed up as:
(Delivery guy):"Here is your pizza ma'am."
(Older woman):"But I have no money, how will I pay?"
(Delivery guy):"Well I can think of one way..."

A good erotic visual novel doesn't include sex scenes just for the sake of sex. They have to have context with the story like the two sex scenes Sophia has with her husband. If anyone was expecting her to have sex with anyone else by this point then they haven't understood or cared about the story and just want to see her have sex for the sake of it. The buildup of good erotic fiction is like a giant roller coaster eventually and finally coming to a massive drop at the end, but before that goes through a series of minor twists, turns, loops and plunges to keep the reader invested and increase the anticipation of the main development happening. I mean at this point we already have Sophia going from a straight laced typical house wife and mother to being comfortable talking about and showing her body to her son, making out with her daughter even if in a playful way, developing an intimate connection with Sam who she sees as a kindred spirit with their shared love of music, exploring the possibility of loving a woman with Alyssa and being a more free spirit thanks to her sister. I'd say the investment is definitely paying off for the story as all of these occurrences are more "sexy" then just random sex acts. The event with Alyssa and the sybian was probably the hottest event by far for me. It left a lot of what was happening to Sophia up to the imagination which is what a great erotic novel does. No crass closeups of her pussy humping away. It also showed her allowing herself to be vulnerable and open towards a complete stranger regarding her intimacy. That is sexy and is more powerful than any "just for the sake of it" sex act of humping people. Also the yoga event with Dylan was more than just hoping to see a naked yoga event (seriously who even thought that ridiculous idea was going to happen). It showed Dylan finally getting confidence in talking with a girl and interacting with them. The only minor complaint I had about that was the Sophia version of the event should have shown her seeing this and maybe realizing what she was doing for Dylan was working. But alas Dylan doesn't participate in her version. So if you choose her route he might not progress with women in general? Don't know. The story could go anywhere with him.
You're half right that a good erotic visual novel requires a good story and characters with high quality renders, but sex doesn't always have to be a main part of it. There is far more to eroticism than just the act of two people humping. The creator is doing exactly what is Patreon page says: creating games with class. And with every update he's done just that.

I fully agree with you!But it still doesn't change the fact that he didn't need to ask him to do that. Aiden is asking of something of Dylan, Dylan has no reason to ask anything of Aiden. This is not a quid pro quo because if Dylan doesn't do what do Aiden wants, he'll continue bullying him. Dylan has no leverage to say, "if you don't do what I want, I won't do what you want", because he'll just get beaten up.
We've seen examples of Dylan doing things with Sophia like going shopping with her, bringing her breakfast in bed, so if he's capable of doing these things, why would he not think that this is a way to try and cheer his Mom up from what he perceives is a midlife crisis? He's also a massive fucking idiot to think that scumbag Aiden wouldn't pull something like this and he's also an idiot because he giving Aiden so much leverage over him by asking him to do this.
It's honestly a terrible way to justify an already crappy subplot of this story because it ruins a perfectly good character by turning them into a total fucking dipshit.

There is no bullying involving Dylan/Aiden it was all a set up.
Aiden wanted something off Dylan and Dylan wanted something off Aiden.Dylan's plan backfired when Sophia sent Dylan away and he eventually confessed that he set the whole thing up to the fury of his mother.
Aiden still needs Dylan to do his task and it has already been said that Zac and Dylan can handle themselves and Zac has a lot of friends at the school.
Aiden maybe could of beaten up Dylan till he did what he wanted but he didn't why was this.
Why come to an agreement involving Aiden in the first place unless Aiden asked Dylan to do a task for him.

This just shows what an utter moron Dylan is because Aiden is threatening him with violence for non compliance to his request, so Dylan is not in a position to ask anything of Aiden because this is not a quid pro quo. Dylan trying to get something out of this should have surely resulted in him getting beaten up because Aiden has no reason to do what Dylan wants of him. Aiden holds all the cards here. It's stupid to think that Dylan could have put any conditions on this arrangement.

That is an example of a more "Realistic" scene then what played out. Consider his Uncle is a top dog lawyer and could get almost any charged drop, per the policeman Sophia talk to.
